About this Space

My name is Angela and I write about multimodal remix through the lens of creative confidence, storytelling, collaboration, and innovation, citing examples from my work in art and visual design, digital learning, opened culture, and narrative praxis. It’s a mosaic of reflections on ideation, collaboration, process, and culture building that seeks to be inclusive of the myriad stars that make up the constellation of creativity.

Angela Remixes is meant to be a familiar and trusted space crafted for informal reflections and empirical dialogues on creative processes, mindsets, and their connections to our identity and humanity. I’m delighted to be able to marry my personal creative journey with my professional scholarship, including insights from my doctoral research on the art and praxis of open remix. I’m also eager to share examples of inspiration that I’ve encountered through engagement with friends, fellow artists, and found gems discovered out in the wild—each contributing to the defining of a space that seeks to build connection across multiple communicative modes.

Throughout my life, I’ve been enchanted by the process of learning and making sense of the world as a collaborative process. Those that know me well know that this hunger for knowledge manifests itself in my proclivity for asking endless questions. Even to the point that I care less about the answer itself and more about a person’s cognitive process and method for answering the question. Asynchronous spaces like websites can still be hubs of interaction, and reading the provocations presented in a creative work can be dialogic even when you are the only one in the room. I wanted to create a space where folks could sit in dialogue with me, with themselves, and with the world around them. My reflections pose driving questions and even leave (hopefully empowering) calls to action that will hopefully encourage you to learn more about what is possible to build around us and build within ourselves, particularly through the simple act of cultivating the confidence to actively and iteratively create.

With every last bit of my heart (painted in vibrant, kelly green), I warmly and effusively welcome you into this space, knowing that my transparency and openness about my creative process will in turn signal my keen interest in learning more about your own process and journey. I’m excited to learn from you just as much as (if not more than) I am to share my discoveries of the world with you.

Yours in Every Iteration of Love,
AG
